The oldest brand of Armenian brandy, Ararat, was founded by Nerses and Vasily Tairyan in 1887. Over 130 years ago, these pioneers laid the foundations of what would become a pinnacle of premium, high-quality brandy, with its first international recognition occurring in the 1902 World Exhibition in the birthplace of cognac: France. At their Yerevan distillery, experienced cognac artisans craft brandy with local Armenian grapes and fresh water from the Katnakhbyur spring and age in barrels made with Caucasian oak wood.
