The Añejo Cristalino expression is aged for a minimum of one year in French oak white wine barrels before being dripped through a charcoal column to refine and remove impurities and it is finished with the wine-making technique of tumbling the liquid to take on oxygen to create a rich mouthfeel. Tequila Komos founder and CEO Richard Betts already saw success creating the brands Astral Tequila and Sombra Mezcal, and the NOM and distillery partner is Orendain, one of the four founding families of Tequila. These partners are committed to sustainable practices in tequila-making, including repurposing waste from production into bricks given to the people of tequila to build infrastructure, working with the same farming families for generations to grow their agaves, and fabricating the one-of-a-kind handmade porcelain bottle in Mexico to reduce carbon footprint and to employ more local population. Orendain is a woman-run distillery.
